Guinea reacts to CAF’s decision to withdraw the organization

Through its spokesperson, Ousmane Gaoual Diallo, Guinea wished to express itself on the decision of the African Football Confederation (CAF) to withdraw the organization of the African Cup of Nations (CAN) 2025. “It’s a disappointment because, once again, like in many international organizations, the financial lobby is more powerful than the realities”, he confided in particular to AFP. As a reminder, according to CAF, Guinea had not removed doubts about a potential lack of preparation in terms of infrastructure and equipment that will be used during CAN 2025.

The spokesperson for the Guinean government therefore also wished to respond to his accusations. “We are almost three years away from the deadline. The biggest stadiums that are built today are built in 24 months. The idea of saying that it is not possible to build all these infrastructures in 24 months is a prejudice” he concluded. At the same time, Algeria has already applied while Senegal, Morocco and Nigeria would also be interested in hosting this famous edition on their soil.
