Apparently, the good game played by the ‘new’ players has caused those who refused to be called up to see their presence in the World Cup in real danger, something that they considered totally unfeasible, yes, before the match against the selection of USA in the Sadar.

Always according to the sports newspaper, the new players summoned by Vilda were pressured at the aforementioned meeting. organized by FUTPRO and in which they took part Laia Alexandri, Ona Batlle y Mine Eizaguirre on behalf of the rebels, whose message was clear: the newly summoned women must support them. Apparently, the representative of the FUTPRO union also pressed in that direction.

Some of the interventions provoked the astonishment of the debutantes, such as the question that Nerea asked Eizaguirre: «How can the fifteen best players not go to a World Cup?». Also taking part in the meeting Amanda Gutierrez, President of FUTPRO and that he clearly positioned himself with the mutineers, going so far as to say to the newly summoned that “what you have to do is go see the psychologist of your club and then do the paripé”.

AFE complaint

Given the seriousness of the events, the Association of Spanish Soccer Players has published a statement denouncing the following:

“This is an intolerable fact for AFE, which has been helping footballers who suffer from this type of ailment for some time. We know the tear they cause in any person and the seriousness of them for the president of a union to trivialize something so delicate.

This situation, presumably led by a practicing lawyer, is extremely serious, since it could be considered that it is inducing the players of the Spanish National Team to commit an illegal act. We must remember that the Law (art. 47 of the Sports Law) establishes ‘the obligation for federated athletes to attend the calls of the national sports teams to participate in international competitions or to prepare for the same’.

It would be an event of extreme gravity, since the sports career of these soccer players would be at stake, who could suffer serious damage, provided for in article 65 of the Disciplinary Code of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).

AFE categorically rejects these alleged behaviors and supports all the soccer players of the Spanish National Team, so that they are not pressured to accept a situation that directly harms them, for the benefit of the particular interests of a union.
