Frankfurt/Main Dirk Nowitzki’s basketball mentor Holger Geschwindner is convinced of the abilities of young star Victor Wembanyama.
“He’s a bunch of talent and a smart little guy,” said Geschwindner of the German Press Agency about the 18-year-old, who is considered the biggest promise of basketball in recent years. Wembanyama is currently still playing in France and will most likely switch to the North American professional league NBA next summer. Geschwindner had previously worked with Wembanyama in the summer of 2021.
Wembanyama, who stands over 2.20 meters tall, is predicted to have a bright future because, in addition to his size, he is agile and has excellent throwing skills. “I hope he’s lucky. He brought in good ideas – he can deliver what only the short ones used to be able to do,” said Geschwindner. In the NBA, teams are expected to deliberately concede games this season in order to have a better chance in the raffle for the first draft pick – and thus probably Wembanyama.
