From hell to heaven: Inter beat Fiorentina after improbable final phase

Inter did what it had to do on a visit to Fiorentina. Under the impulse of Lautaro Martinez, the Nerazzurri got off to a scorching start. Cabral and Ikoné rebalanced the plates. Luka Jovic seemed to give Fiorentina another point in the absolute final by erasing Martinez’s 2-3. But that was beyond Henrik Mkhitaryan. The Armenian still gave Inter the victory in the final seconds.

After a disappointing start to the season, Inter’s engine seems to be running at full speed again. After the nine out of nine in the league and the four out of six against Barcelona in the Champions League, Fiorentina now also went for the axe.

The Nerazzurri made a dream start in Firenze. After just two minutes Nicolo Barella was put in front of the goal by Lautaro Martinez. The Italian did not fail and put Inter on roses.

Where Martinez was first the declarant, he later took on the role of finisher. The Argentinian went for a walk in Fiorentina’s defense and completed the attack himself. Inter seemed to have their sheep on dry land after fifteen minutes.

Arthur Cabral, once in the interest of Antwerp, converted a penalty for the home team on the half hour and thus brought back some tension in the match.

That goal had clearly pleased Fiorentina. After the break it was time to look for the equalizer. He came too. Ikoné got too much space and kicked the ball past goalkeeper Onana.

Inter was more upset and got the chance to score the winning goal twenty minutes before the end. Lautaro Martinez was blocked incorrectly in the penalty area and converted the eleven meter himself: 2-3. Luka Jovic seemed to give Fiorentina a point in the absolute final, but thanks to a goal from Mkhitaryan in the final seconds, Inter still won.
