France Football dropped the Ballon d’Or scores and indeed, Benzema had a landslide victory

France Football released in its new edition the scores related to the choice of the Ballon d’Or. And the numbers prove the overwhelming victory of Karim Benzema. The Frenchman received 549 points out of a possible 558. This means that, of the 93 voters participating, only four did not choose him as the best in the world. It’s not the highest score ever recorded, nor the biggest difference, due to the different accounting systems that ever existed. Either way, the superiority of the winner is clear.

Benzema had 356 points more than Sadio Mané, in second place. The Senegalese had a privileged position precisely because of the times he was named second best in the world. From then on, the dispute was more even, with Kevin de Bruyne (175) and Robert Lewandowski (170) just below, while Mohamed Salah (116) was the other one who surpassed 100 points. Only 19 of the 30 nominees received at least one vote, with figures like Cristiano Ronaldo and Harry Kane ending up with zero votes.

Of the four journalists who did not vote for Benzema, two preferred Salah. They were the representatives of Egypt and the Netherlands/Holland in the election. Mané was named the best in the world by the voter from Senegal. Slovenia’s voter put Kevin de Bruyne first. For the rest, the maximum recognition prevailed that, without a doubt, Benzema deserved the coronation.
