This year is the 50th edition of the Cathar Country Chestnut, Wine and Lamb Festival during which the village will welcome thousands of visitors to honor the mountain fruit. And the organizers saw the big picture for the return of this moment which had been sorely lacking for two years. No less than a hundred exhibitors from all trades, roasted chestnuts, music, it’s a whole program not to be missed. A special 50th anniversary cuvée (1,000 bottles) is planned, which is a sign that the organizers, the Villardonnel Festival Committee and its team of volunteers, are betting a lot on this exercise.
In the program
Sunday October 30: at 10 a.m., opening of the fair to exhibitors (honey, wine, charcuterie, cheese, jam, chestnuts); at 11 a.m. parade, inauguration and speeches by officials; at 12 noon aperitifs with wines; at 12:30 p.m., meal in the town hall square; at 6 p.m. closing of the party in music at Castanho. Free entertainment: archery, giant wooden games, inflatable structure, animals, medieval workshops, exhibitions. Musical entertainment all day long with the brass bands Toto, Tonton à Faim, Madrigal Médiévale, Escola de Bodéga de Villardonnel. On-site catering: compose your plate with local products from the farmers’ market.
