The kick-off of the meeting had to be delayed, due to clashes in the stands between supporters, before the match.

German police on Wednesday carried out a series of searches in Cologne and other cities in the country in the investigation of clashes before the European Cup match between OGC Nice and FC Cologne.

Apartments in Hürth, Pulheim and Bergisch Gladbach were also searched, the Cologne police said in a statement, adding that they had executed arrest warrants from the city’s district court. The police must give further information on these searches at the beginning of the afternoon.

On September 8 in Nice, before the kick-off of this match of the first day of the Europa League Conference, several hundred supporters hooded in the colors of the German club, out of the more than 8,000 present that evening, had provoked violent incidents by invading the presidential gallery to go to battle with their counterparts in Nice.

During these incidents in the stands, 32 people were injured and four hospitalized.
