Charles Leclerc has had a new engine and a new turbocharger installed for the race weekend in the United States and can therefore count on a grid penalty of ten places. Fernando Alonso has also received a new power source and will receive a five-place grid penalty for this.
Leclerc and Alonso have each used five engines this season, meaning they are well above the maximum allowed of three engines per season. Leclerc has also had his sixth turbocharger of the season installed, of which a driver is also allowed to use a maximum of three per season. For Alonso, this means he will receive a five-place grid penalty, while Leclerc will in turn receive a ten-place grid penalty.
