Fabienne Kocher failed early | Sports at home/abroad

After a bye, Kocher was eliminated in the second round in the category up to 52 kg. The 29-year-old from Aargau lost to Kazakh outsider Gauchar Irmagambetowa with ippon. Her fight against number 76 in the world rankings lasted just 18 seconds.

As a result, Kocher was unable to match her recent strong results in Uzbekistan’s capital. With bronze at the World Championships and 5th place at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, the Swiss had an excellent last year.

For Binta Ndiaye (up to 52 kg) and Freddy Waizenegger (up to 66 kg) the 2nd round meant the end of the season after they had previously been able to win at their World Championship debuts.
