End of internship for the Cadets of the Gendarmerie of Aude

Sixteen young Audois participated in this cohesion training course for the Gendarmerie Cadets.

Friday 28 October took place the ceremony of the end of the course of cohesion in La Forge, in which took part the Cadets of gendarmerie of Aude.

During their first week of vacation, 16 young high school students, boys and girls from seven Aude establishments met to participate in the course punctuated with physical and sports activities, canoeing, via corda, archery while carrying out a civic action at the benefit of the center of La Forge, which welcomed them during these few days. These young girls and boys have thus chosen to commit themselves every Wednesday of the school year, to join the Cadets de gendarmerie de l’Aude, an association born in the department five years ago, chaired by Mr. Rouquairol, deputy at the town hall of Limoux in charge of security and supervised by the gendarmerie of Limoux, including three reservists.

Solidarity and mutual aid

The purpose of this commitment is to introduce young volunteers to the professions of the gendarmerie and to make them aware of the duty of memory through ceremonies. : July 14, November 11, by taking them to symbolic places such as the Picaussel maquis. They are also invited to travel, including a stay in Paris, to visit the tomb of the Unknown Soldier, meet the deputies of the National Assembly or visit the Republican Guard. Squadron Leader Jardin and Chief Verdier were in charge of organizing and preparing these events, in which the cadets participate, some of whom already have the vocation of serving in the police or working in the trades. of security. The objective of this apprenticeship is to instill in these teenagers a sense of solidarity and mutual aid, values ​​that they have implemented on different occasions, in particular through their commitment during the Covid period, when they welcomed people coming for vaccination.

The training, which takes place throughout the school year, integrates theoretical and practical courses and will end in June, with the baptism of promotion which will bring together families, elected officials, military and civil authorities, as well as the rector of the academy, prefect and deputies.

This friendly, but solemn ceremony took place in the courtyard of the city’s gendarmerie, in the presence of the brigade, the course supervisors and Major Laurent Garrigues, commander of the gendarmerie brigade. The rise of colors and the a cappella interpretation of The Marseillaise concluded this week of training, a great moment of emotion for these young citizens who do not hesitate to sacrifice part of their free time in a civic spirit.
