Ecovidrio and Kosmos present their sustainable plan for the Davis Cup final

The Davis Cup also wants to show its commitment to the environment and sustainability during the Davis Cup by Rakuten Final 8 to be held at the Palacio de los Deportes Martín Carpena in Malaga from November 22 to 27 Thanks to the campaign that Ecovidrio and Kosmos have launched together with the Junta de Andalucía, the Malaga City Council in an act held this Friday in which the delegate of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the Junta de Andalucía Gema del Corral; the director of the Davis Cup by Rakuten Finals David Ferrer, the councilors of the Malaga City Council Teresa Porras and Noelia Losada and the marketing director of Ecovidrio Borja Martiarena.

For this Ecovidrio and Kosmos have decided to adopt eight key objectives in a Sustainability Action Plan among which is the responsible use of materials to clean the facilities; the reduction of material consumption in tickets and magazines; reduce greenhouse gas emissions, waste management; fight against food waste, promote diversity and equal opportunities; the application of the three R’s (Reduce, recycle and reuse in catering) and promote mobility in sustainable means of transport.

To raise awareness of these objectives, both Ecovidrio and Kosmos will carry out initiatives such as adherence to the Net Zero Commitment; holding talks and activities in schools to promote healthy lifestyles; a campaign against food waste; the promotion of development and the local economy; the promotion of renewable energy with the use of solar panels; sustainable mobility to attend the tournament; proper management of resources; reduce the use of paper for printing tickets; zero kilometer catering; the launch of the Virtual Media Center for the press where the use of printing will be reduced; sale of ecological, recycled and biodegradable packs in the official merchandising, in addition to betting on an inclusive and non-sexist language.

Another of the actions that will be carried out in this sustainability commitment that Ecovidrio and Kosmos will carry out on the occasion of the Davis Cup by Rakuten Finals is the construction of a tennis court in collaboration with the Malaga City Council that will be made with recycled glass in the green glass containers of Malaga.

In addition, the Davis Cup by Rakuten Finals will also reward the commitment of the people of Malaga to recycling glass, since all those who deposit three glass containers in the enabled recycling points they will receive a single entry to the quarterfinals of the tournament. These recycling points will be enabled in the Plaza de San Vicente (Cruz del Humilladero District), in Echevarría de Huelín (Cadiz Road District), in the Plaza de la Marina (Central District) and in Echevarría del Palo (East District) and glass containers can be delivered on Friday 4, Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 November from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at any of these four points.
