Crysencio Summerville gave Leeds United a 1-2 victory on Saturday just before time on a visit to Liverpool. The Dutchman hit Anfield in the 89th minute, causing ‘The Reds’ to fall again in the Premier League. Earlier in the day, Chelsea lost 4-1 to Brighton & Hove Albion, partly due to two own goals.
Twenty-year-old Summerville was already accurate against Fulham last week and against Liverpool he scored his second goal at the highest level in England. The attacker went through Feyenoord’s youth academy, played an Eredivisie match for the Rotterdam team and was then active on a rental basis for ADO Den Haag.
Since 2020, the Dutch youth international has been playing for Leeds, which gave Liverpool the second loss in a row in the Premier League. Summerville got the ball into the penalty area from Patrick Bamford and knocked out Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker with a shot into the far corner. Last Wednesday, Liverpool was still 0-3 too strong for Ajax in the Champions League.
With Virgil van Dijk in the starting lineup, Liverpool faced a 0-1 deficit at home against Leeds after four minutes. Rodrigo scored. Mohammed Salah equalized in the fourteenth minute, but then the team of coach Jürgen Klopp failed to score. The goal of Summerville even resulted in a loss. Liverpool drops to ninth place due to the defeat, while Leeds is fifteenth. In addition to Summerville, Pascal Struijk, who is part of the Orange squad for the World Cup, also had a base place at Leeds.

Potter loses with Chelsea from old club
Chelsea coach Graham Potter faced a 2-0 deficit after fifteen minutes against his former club Brighton. A smooth attack from Brighton was skilfully finished by Leandro Trossard. Ruben Loftus-Cheek brought Chelsea deeper problems by pushing the ball into its own goal at a corner.
Just before half time, Trevoh Chalobah followed suit by sliding the ball past his own goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga. Kai Havertz did something back immediately after the break by heading in from close range, but then Brighton came in 4-1 via Pascal Gross. Chelsea thus suffered another loss of points after the duels with Brentford (0-0) and Manchester United (1-1).
Tottenham had recently lost to Manchester United (2-0) and Newcastle United (1-2) and things went wrong quickly against Bournemouth, but in the end the Londoners won 2-3. Marcus Tavernier broke through on the right and brought Kieffer Moore into position. The attacker increased the lead after the break by heading through the bottom of the bar.
Tottenham then straightened out. Ryan Sessegnon escaped the attention of the Bournemouth defense and scored, after which Ben Davies headed in the equalizer. Rodrigo Bentancur took care of the redeeming 2-3 for Tottenham in injury time.
Newcastle United simply put Aston Villa aside by goals from Callum Wilson (twice), Joelinton and Miguel Almirón: 4-0. Basic player Sven Botman was replaced twenty minutes before time. The win moves Newcastle to fourth place in the Premier League and is two points behind Tottenham. Chelsea occupies fifth place.

De Bruyne shoots Manchester City to victory
Manchester City, who won 0-1 at Leicester City, had to do without Erling Haaland, who is struggling with a minor foot injury, for the first time in this Premier League season. Instead of the 22-year-old Norwegian, his peer Julián Álvarez was on the attack.
The Argentinian rarely came in handy against Leicester City’s tightly organized defense, as his team-mates struggled to create opportunities. A standard situation offered a solution for Manchester City shortly after the break: Kevin De Bruyne made a wonderful hit and forced the home team to leave the defensive positions.
Leicester City created danger in particular through former Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho and Youri Tielemans (bet on the crossbar via goalkeeper Ederson). The visitors held their ground and are at least temporarily in the lead in the Premier League. Arsenal, which has the fewest loss points, will play against Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
Manchester City will continue the season on Wednesday with a home game against Sevilla in the final round of the Champions League. The team of Josep Guardiola is already certain of group victory in the billion-dollar ball. In the Premier League, a home game with Fulham awaits next Saturday.
