“Dramatic for our sport”: these Winter Games in Saudi Arabia that no one understands or defends

Nobody understands and there is reason. The decision of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) to grant the organization of the Asian Winter Games to Saudi Arabia in 2029 challenges and does not leave many people indifferent for a few hours. How could an a priori solid and respected international body grant ski or ice hockey competitions to a desert country, where it never snows? A totalitarian kingdom where the average temperature is 37°C and in a region in the north of the country where there is less than 50 mm of precipitation per year?
