There was a rather strange interruption at the Guadalajara Open in Mexico. The game between Petra Kvitova and Bernarda Pera could only start with a delay of one and a half hours.

At the WTA tennis tournament in Guadalajara, Mexico, a swarm of bees caused the first-round game between Petra Kvitova (Czech Republic) and Bernarda Pera (USA) to be postponed.

The organizer published pictures on social networks showing countless bees on the canopy of the referee’s high chair.

Only after a beekeeper had removed the swarm could the match start on Monday evening (local time in Mexico) with a delay of around 90 minutes. She has never experienced anything like this, said 32-year-old Kvitova after her victory (6: 3, 7: 5): “And I’ve been on the tour for 20 years”.
