Colombian soccer broadcast rights, who gets the money?

About the controversy over the broadcasting rights of Colombian soccer, Alexander Pinedirector of Publimetro, sports commentator and who was also the presenter of different sports programs on Señal Colombia, spoke at The W on this case and gave details of the contract signed between Win Sports and an advisory company in 2012.

In 2012 an agreement would have been generated between the company Go Sports y el canal Win Sports for handling the transmission of Colombian professional soccer. However, under the contract Go Sports I would be winning a top percentage which is won by the biggest soccer teams in the country.

Pino assured that in 2017 a intervention where they found different serious matters.

He explained that when Mauricio Correa, former president of Win Sports, was the vice president of marketing for Telmex (Claro) created the transmissions of the Colombian soccer through a contract.

“When the contract was going to end, Correa and Roy Burstin invented a concept called Win Sports and take it to the competition being employees of Claro. DirecTV buys the idea and Win Sports is born”Pine explained.

In this sense, he revealed that Claro sued Dimayor because it had priority for the renewal of the contract and the idea was from Go Sports.

Pino explained that: “Millionaires, National, Santa Fe, America, Junior and Cali, the big teams in this country receive approximately 2,500 million pesos for television rightswhile Go Sports receives 3,000 million pesos for the intervention of the contract.

“It is very strange that all Colombian football turns to favor Mauricio Correa and not to the same Colombian football”, he added.

He also assured that Correa is the current Jesurún candidate to be the president of the dimajor, “How do you think of appointing someone as president of the Dimayor if he has earned more money than teams in the last 10 years. The leaders do not know the contract, they meet but do not read the contract”.

“In the contract it is signed that Go Sportsas an interventionist, will receive a percentage of 2.8% annually until the contract ends in 2026″, he pointed out.
