Christo Popov, 49th world badminton player and virtual student of the University of Limoges

“The University of Limoges was a pioneer in offering distance learning,” says Guillaume Andrieu, director of the ICT (information and communication technologies) department. We have around 300 students in France and abroad who belong to the virtual campus.

The aim of these courses is to adapt to a particular audience: adults returning to study, disabled students, high-level athletes.

In this last category, the University of Limoges welcomes Christo Popov and Yael Brinkert, a volleyball player.

The badminton player is a hope in a discipline where his older brother, Toma Junior (22nd player in the world) also shines. Christo lives and trains in Fos-sur-Mer where his father settled in the early 2000s. The studies he is doing with the University of Limoges is perfect for him in more ways than one. .

“Limoges was ideal”

“Already, I’m passionate about IT and everything related to the web,” says Christo. After my baccalaureate, I looked for all distance learning courses with Parcours Sup and Limoges, it was ideal. ” Author of a brilliant first year validated with more than 14 of average, Christo attacks the continuation with determination.

“It’s really great even if it requires a lot of work. The teachers are very understanding and for the distance exams, we were able to change the dates and times, because as I was in Asia, with the time difference, it was complicated. For a boy who competes almost 43 weeks a year and lives off his sport, training in Limoges is a blessing, an escape and an obligation. “My mother wants us to study and maybe I’ll do a pro license next year. While continuing to shine at the highest level.
