If Liverpool got their ticket to the knockout stages of the Champions League on Wednesday evening, Atlético de Madrid, on the other hand, went by the wayside, like FC Barcelona.

Corrected by Naples when they entered the Champions League, Liverpool have ideally bounced back since. Jurgen Klopp’s Reds went on to win four in a row, including the last on Wednesday at Ajax (3-0). In Amsterdam, the Merseysiders went 3-0 with goals from Salah, Nunez and Elliott.

Liverpool rejoint Naples

Liverpool can even hope to finish in 1st place again. But, for that, it will take a river score against Naples, in a week at Anfield. Mission almost impossible, especially in view of the form currently displayed by the Italian team. Against Rangers, the Partenopei lined up a fifth victory in a row (3-0). Giovanni Simeone scored twice.

Atlético eliminated

Brugge were also undefeated before this day, but the Belgian team lost their flag when receiving Porto. Lacking motivation, the Belgians were even rolled on a final score of 0-4. For their executioners of the day, this festival is all the more tasty as it is synonymous with qualification for the next round. The result in the other game, namely a 2-2 between Atlético and Leverkusen, means that they can no longer be joined in the standings.

Bayern sink Barca

In group C, everything is also sealed. Bayern consolidated its first place by logically winning in Barcelona (2-0). The Catalans had not seen fit to give their all since they were eliminated at the start of the match. Inter’s victory over Plzen (4-0) earlier in the evening was fatal to them.

To finish, Tottenham retained the lead in Group D by sharing the honors with Sporting (1-1). OM, for their part, fell to 4th place by losing to Frankfurt (1-2). The defeat is damaging but it does not eliminate the Phocaeans. A success in the last game against Spurs and they will be sure to see the Round of 16.
