Very active on social networks, LeBron James obviously got wind of the takeover of Twitter by billionaire Elon Musk. The Lakers superstar did not take long before giving his opinion on the subject, with in particular a big request for the businessman.
It was a subject that had regularly made the news over the past few months, in particular because of various twists and turns. Very interested in the idea of buying Twitter, Elon Musk finally retracted during the summer after the value of the company fell, as well as following rumors of manipulation on his part. However, the multi-billionaire has made a new about-face since he himself recently confirmed the acquisition of the platform:

The only problem is that it also involves unblocking accounts considered hateful or advocating violence, especially among far-right people. In particular, there was talk of reactivating the account of former US President Donald Trump, who was banned from the network in January 2021 after the Capitol riots.

However, such a decision would not please NBA players at all, the vast majority of whom were clearly opposed to Trump’s policies when he was head of state. First of all, we think of LeBron James that the real estate mogul has regularly criticized, even advising her to become a woman. That his account can be operational again logically worries the King, and he therefore made a clear request to Elon Musk after the announcement of the takeover of Twitter. I don’t know Elon Musk and, to be completely honest, I don’t care who owns Twitter. But I would say that if this measure is confirmed, I hope that he and his team will take this very seriously because it is fucking scary. There are so many unfit people who take the view that hate speech is included in freedom of expression.
Without explicitly citing the case of Donald Trump, with whom he has a serious beef, LeBron James’ request to Elon Musk seems clear and clear. Be careful not to give too much space to hate speech on Twitter, by giving voice to far-right supporters in particular.
