Brazil advances to the round of 16 in the Men’s Table Tennis World Cup

The Brazilian men’s team secured a place in the round of 16 of the 2022 World Team Table Tennis Championships, in Chengdu, China. The trio Hugo Calderano, Vitor Ishiy and Eric Jouti beat the Slovaks on Tuesday (4) and advanced to second place in group 6, behind Portugal.

The carioca Hugo Calderano, number five in the world, faced a tough match against Yang Wang, but he took the best part, with 3 sets to 2. Then it was the turn of Vitor Ishy, who got rid of Jakub Zelinka by three zero sets. The third and final player to compete was Eric Jouti, who also beat Adam Klajber 3-0.

The women’s team (the sisters Bruna and Giulia Takahashi, plus Laura Watanabe), however, said goodbye to the world championship after losing against France by three sets to two.
