Biarritz wins in Montauban and climbs on the podium

Biarritz won 46-32 at Montauban on Thursday in the opening match of the 6th day of Pro D2, a success which allows the Basque club to temporarily climb to second place in the standings, two points behind Grenoble the leader. The BO, relegated from the Top 14, thus recorded a second victory in a row (after that against Carcassonne 32-23), and at the same time showered the enthusiasm of the Montalbanais who had been invigorated by the prestigious victory against Mont-de- Marsan (43-19) at home the previous day. Biarritz scored four tries, all converted, and six penalties, against four tries, three conversions and two penalties for his opponent.

Montauban drops from sixth to ninth place, certainly four points behind his opponent of the day and Oyonnax (3rd) who will play on the field of Provence Rugby (14th) on Friday evening. The Grenoble leader will make a perilous trip to Vannes, fourth on equal points with Mont-de-Marsan which will host Soyaux-Angoulême (11th), also on Friday.
