The controversial basketball superstar Kyrie Irving has caused the next excitement with a tweet about a film criticized as anti-Semitic.

The 30-year-old of the Brookyln Nets shared a link to the film on Twitter titled “Hebrews to Negroes: Wake Up Black America“, which the US media also classified as racist and misogynist, homophobic and Islamophobic. His club distanced itself from Irivng’s statements. “The Brooklyn Nets strongly condemn any form of hate speech and have zero tolerance for any form of advertising it‘ that explained NBAteam in a statement to the US broadcaster ESPN Template.

Clubbesitzer Joe Tsai wrote on Twitter: “I’m disappointed that Kyrie apparently supporting a film based on a book full of anti-Semitic disinformation.” Of the Point Guard had shared the link to the film without comment. “I want to sit down with him and make sure he understands that this is hurtful to all of us“, wrote Tsai. It is wrong to promote hatred based on ethnicity or religion.

Irving had always caused a stir with his sometimes crude views. He refused to be vaccinated against the corona virus, so he missed large parts of the pre-season and only played 29 games in the past regular season. He didn’t care that he was losing millions of dollars. “I stand for freedom in all facets of my life“, would have Irving said last season. Nobody can enslave him and tell him what to do.
