Basketball: Hamburg Towers win against MBC in the BBL

Party atmosphere in the Inselpark! At home, the Hamburg Towers overran the Mitteldeutsche BC from Weißenfels with 91:74 (23:16, 52:32, 72:51) and celebrated the first win of the season. Wilhelmsburg impressed their fans with numerous spectacular passes and baskets.

The towers already showed in the narrow defeat against Alba Berlin that there is a lot of potential in their newly formed squad. The 2889 Towers fans saw on Saturday evening what the team can achieve when all the wheels mesh. Disinterested, fast-paced and above all successful basketball – that was largely the result of a great performance by the Hanseatic League.

BBL: Strong Towers win 91:74 against the MBC

The hosts pushed hard from the start, so MBC was constantly under pressure. “We are very focused and started with a lot of energy,” Towers coach Raoul Korner praised the start of his protégés. Towers playmakers Kendale McCullum and Ziga Samar, who had 13 assists together, were particularly happy to play. The latter enchanted the audience with several templates all over the court – Samar would probably have become a good quarterback.

Since Weißenfels also lost possession on the assembly line (a total of 20 turnovers), the towers pulled away almost uncatchable in the first half. Especially in the second quarter, which the hosts dominated with 29:16, the MBC didn’t stand a chance. The spectators celebrated their towers and were rewarded with crashing dunks and other impressive finishes. “It was a nice symbiosis between the fans and the team,” agreed Korner.

Except for a phase of weakness shortly before the end of the game, the Towers played down their boots confidently. Thanks to the great performance, the talents Leif Möller (19) and Al-Fayed Alegbe (18) were also able to celebrate their professional debut. Möller hit his only shot, while Alegbe failed to score in just under two minutes of play. The top scorer of the game was McCullum with 17 points. Next Saturday (6 p.m.) the towers in Bayreuth can do better and get their second win of the still young season.
