Baseball, Piacenza in the final at the Robert Fontana under23 memorial

Baseball. Winning the semi-final on Saturday 29 October against the hosts of Milan 1946 with a peremptory 14-2, the Under23 of Piacenza qualify for tomorrow’s final of the tournament named in memory of Robert Fontana. The match actually remained balanced until the upper part of the fifth round, with the Milanese able to reach 2-0 at the first attack and the red and white latent in the box against the departing Pizzi. On the fourth attack, however, Piacenza overturned the situation with four scores signed by the hits of Segreto, Fava and Speziale, assisted by Casana’s base ball and a couple of mistakes by the opposing defense. In the fifth inning, however, the red and white attack exploded scoring ten points, setting the total at 14-2 and thus obtaining the early suspension of the match for manifest superiority. Well the mound, with Gabbari starting, capable of seven strikeouts in seven rounds, then detected by Bigliardi who got all three eliminated from the fifth inning to the pot. In the batting box on the Calderon shields with two deep doubles in the opposite field, one of which cleared the full bases decreeing the end of the match. Fava also did well (2 out of 3), Segreto and Speziale. Appointment therefore tomorrow, October 30, at 14 always on the Kennedy diamond in Milan for the final against Senago, who won the other semifinal with the score of 3-1 obtained against Novara in the first additional round.
