Arthur Rinderknech eliminated in the quarter-finals by Holger Rune in Basel

Arthur Rinderknech’s fine career in Basel ends at the quarter-final stage. Despite a hung first set, the French gave in to Holger Rune (7-6 [0], 6-2). Full of confidence (he won the Stockholm tournament last week), the Dane was able to tighten the game in the tie-break of the first set before leaving the French on the spot in the second. Jostled by the striking force of his opponent and the precision of his many passing shots in the legs, Rinderknech was unable to impose his attacking game.

However, the week remains good for Rinderknech, who had to earn his place in the big picture through qualifying and who will be on Monday, when the Rolex Paris Masters, number 1 in France (42nd), will start.
