Alonso regains seventh place in US Grand Prix after “Alpine” victory on appeal

The two-time world champion is now officially seventh in the race held in Austin, Texas, where he finished on Sunday.

After the Haas team protested that the Spaniard’s car was unsafe because he was driving with a broken wing mirror, he was given a 30-second penalty, dropping to 15th.

Alpine’s protest was initially rejected by flight attendants in Mexico City on Thursday, but the French team appealed again and were rewarded with the request granted, after the flight attendants concluded that the original Haas protest had not been submitted in time.

It has already been reported that the two-time world champion from the Netherlands, Max Verstappen, won on Sunday, winning the 13th victory this season and securing the victory for his team in the Constructors’ Cup as well.

The second place was taken by the British Lewis Hamilton, while the third place was finished by the Ferrari pilot Charles Leclerc from Monaco.

Sergio Perez (Red Bull) remained outside the top three, George Russell (Mercedes) was fifth, Lando Norris (McLaren) was sixth, followed by Fernando Alonso (Alpine) and Sebastian Vettel (Aston Martin “).

With three stages before the end of the season, Verstappen has 391 points, Leclair is second with 267 points and Perez is third with 265 points. Alonso is ninth with 71 points.

In the Constructors’ Cup, “Red Bull” is in the clear lead with 656 points, “Ferrari” is in second place with 469 points, and “Mercedes” is in third position with 416 points. “Alpine” represented by Alonso is fourth with 149 points.

Last year, Verstappen clinched his first career F1 world title on the final lap of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, ahead of seven-time champion Hamilton, with whom he was tied on points before the final stage.

This season, the F-1 calendar has 22 stages.
