The Sagami Boys, a junior high school hardball baseball team based in Sagamihara City (directed by Kazushi Iwanaga), placed 3rd in the recent Atsugi Tournament (East Japan Block Invitational Tournament Preliminaries) and qualified for the East Japan Invitational Tournament for the first time in two years. decided to participate.

At the Atsugi tournament, they unfortunately lost in the best 4, but the Sagami Boys showed their strength by winning a cold win and a close match in the extended tie break. Ahead of the East Japan Invitational Tournament, which will be the first in two years, captain Kenta Motoyama is fired up, saying, “We will demonstrate the results of our summer training, and first win one. As the captain, I will do my best to bring the team together and aim for the championship.”

Captain Motoyama says that this year’s team is not big, but everyone wins in baseball. Coach Iwanaga also commented on this year’s team, saying, “Even if we are inferior to our opponents in terms of individual ability, we can beat them if we fight as a team.”

The Eastern Japan Selection Tournament will be held in Fukushima Prefecture from October 8th (Sat) to 10th (holiday). The Sagami Boys will face the Tokyo Jonan Boys of the Tokyo East Branch on the 8th at the York Kaiseizan Stadium.
