Aldi Nord will close earlier in the future to save energy

Companies are also called upon to significantly reduce their energy consumption. Aldi Nord relies on a remedy that consumers will soon feel.

The discount chain Aldi Nord wants to save energy. For this reason, numerous branches would close at 8 p.m. from November, the group announced on Twitter. The regulation initially applies to the 2022/23 winter season. The company has not yet announced any further details. Especially in big cities, Aldi branches are often open until 9 or 10 p.m

According to Aldi, the group is the first grocer to decide to take this step. The Russian war of aggression against Ukraine has triggered a severe energy crisis, especially since Germany in particular has become heavily dependent on gas from Russia in recent years. Due to the failure of Russian supplies, Germany is threatened with a bottleneck this winter, in which energy for the economy would be rationed. To avoid this, companies, authorities and households should voluntarily reduce their consumption.
