Zamora “transforms” into the national badmiton court, without Carolina Marín,…

The Angel Nieto pavilion This morning is the court where the best badminton players in Spain measure their strength, a sport on the rise in our country after the worldwide successes of Carolina Marín.

Zamora is for the first time the headquarters of a National Master N-3 Absolutea championship that will be held throughout this weekend at the Ángel Nieto with the participation of more than 100 team players from all over Spain.

The Master is part of the national circuit and is eligible for the Spanish Championship, but it also includes what is considered the “best player in the history of badminton in Spain”, Paul Abianborn in Calatayud and settled in Madrid, 16 times champion of Spain. His international track record is also impressive: his resume includes the gold medal he won in the Baku European Games 2015 and four medals in the Mediterranean Gamessilver in Mersin 2013gold in Tarragona 2018and gold and silver in Oran 2022.

Apart from sport, the players and their coaches were able to enjoy the city during a walk yesterday afternoon and enjoy the Medieval Market. “It’s nice to go out and see so much atmosphere,” commented Pablo Caparrós, from the Cartagena Club. “And you eat well,” adds Antonio Fernández, from Vigo. And curiously, the perception of both is that Zamora is a clean city.

Already on the track, the best racket and feather athletes will face each other today and tomorrow to be among the 16 best in Spain. The day continues today until 8:00 p.m. to dispute the previous phases of the different modalities (men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles).

On Sunday, the day will begin at 9:30 in the morning and will end at 2:00 p.m. It will be the day in which the semifinals and finals of the different categories will be played.
