After a balanced first half with playful advantages for the home side, but also a good chance from Karim Konate (next to the goal/39th), coach Fabio Ingolitsch’s team was initially punished despite performance improvement by Lewis Hall (60th).
In the last half hour, however, the equalizer became apparent. Chelsea’s goalkeeper was able to prevent the 1-1 with a save against Zeteny Jano (76′), but a little later Fabio Crescenti scored the deserved point after Konate’s dream pass (83′).

Salzburg holds two points, record winner Chelsea wrote for the first time this year after the 4-2 defeat in Zagreb. In the parallel game, Milan beat the Croatians 3-0 (2-0) and took the lead in Group E with four points ahead of Dinamo Zagreb (3), last year’s finalists Salzburg (2) and bottom Chelsea (1). It continues after the international break in three weeks at home against Zagreb.
