The Yellow Tigers (FIVB-13) have sold a serious blow at the Volleyball World Cup host country the Netherlands (FIVB-10). Our Belgian volleyball women won with 3-1 figures (25-16, 25-23, 24-26 and 27-25).

Once again Britt Herbots was the stronghold of the Belgians. The 23-year-old reception corner attacker from Firenze scored no less than 41 points. For the Netherlands, captain Anne Buijs made 22. In the third set the Tigers dropped a match point at 24-23 and in the fourth set they left two more unused, but the fourth was the good one.

After four of five matchdays, Belgium is in third place with three wins and one defeat. The Netherlands remains second, thanks to a better points quotient. Italy (FIVB-2) leads Group A unbeaten. Puerto Rico (FIVB-19) and Kenya (FIVB-28) follow with one win in fourth and fifth place. Cameroon (FIVB-31) could not win yet. On the final day of play, the Tigers will play Cameroon on Sunday and the Dutch and Italians will face each other. Puerto Rico and Kenya will face each other on Saturday.
Twenty-four countries are divided into four groups of six teams. Four countries from each group advance to the second round. In it, two groups of eight countries are formed, where the mutual results of the first round are included. Whoever finishes in the top four of his group in the second round will go to the quarter-finals. The Tigers will face China (FIVB-4), Brazil (FIVB-3), Japan (FIVB-7) and Argentina (FIVB-17), the top four of Group D.
