WTA > Serena Williams buries doubts about her retirement: “I feel like I’ve given so much of my life to tennis, my whole life, that it’s time to do something different”

While Serena Williams had some doubts about the definitive end of her career after her last US Open, the American champion finally made things clear in a recent interview with Vanity Fair. According to her, it was really time to stop.

“I just needed to stop. I always said that I wanted to quit when I was playing very good tennis, winning and beating good players. For me, it’s mostly about things I want to do spiritually and spending time with my daughter and my family. As a very involved mother, I cannot tell you how difficult it was. I lost so many matches after the birth of Olympia because it was very difficult to be on the pitch. I feel like I’ve given so much of my life to tennis, my whole life, that it’s time to do something different for me and work on other things. When you’re inside, you can’t see it. It’s completely different when you’re involved. »
