Winter sports – Nordic combined plans major reform – Sport

With a reform of Nordic combined, the World Ski Association Fis wants to enable the sport to continue to be Olympic and to allow women to participate in the 2030 Olympics. This was announced by combined competition director Lasse Ottesen. At the Forum Nordicum, the Norwegian said that after the veto of the International Olympic Committee on the inclusion of combined athletes, they are working on innovations. The IOC’s proposals include reducing the number of athletes from 55 to 36 for the 2026 Games.

These should continue to complete a competition with jumping from the normal and large hill as well as a team sprint. If the women are included, there should be competitions for both sexes with jumping on the normal and large hill and a mixed team competition in 2030. Fis is planning changes in the World Cup. including a super sprint, mass starts and mixed team events.
