“We have an incredible amount of talent”

New Orleans approaches the new course with renewed illusions. The roster has barely changed since last season, but there is one big difference: Zion Williamson is back on the court.

That’s how it is. The Pelicans franchise player will return to action and join a group that in the 2021-22 campaign began to generate a chemistry that invites optimism. It is not that they already know each other and have automatisms implemented, but rather that they add to this a talent that is beyond any doubt in players like Brandon Ingram or CJ McCollum. This is explained by the general manager of the organization, David Griffin.

“What’s really exciting for us is that we have an incredible amount of talent. We have more talent than I’ve had almost anywhere I’ve been, including teams that have won a championship. The thing is, this talented group has never had to win a game under that obligation. That’s really the next step in our evolution,” he tells Christian Clark of NOLA.com.

Regarding what he expects for the course that begins in less than a month, the executive points out that he sees it as a challenge for the team, since the time has come to show that they can be really good.

“Last year we won games at the end of the season when no one thought we were good. It is much easier to be the hunter than the hunted. We were good last year. Now we have the opportunity to show that we are actually a good team. This is a super exciting time in the growth and evolution of a franchise. We never get these moments back », he concludes.
