Olympique Lyonnais announced on Monday that it had recruited Canadian international central defender Vanessa Gilles from American club Angel City (NWSL) on a loan without an option to buy.
International since 2019 and gold medalist in Tokyo in 2021, she arrives at OL Women to make up for the long-term absence of French international Griedge M’Bock, seriously injured in a knee with the France team against the Greece (September 6).
However, Gilles (26), who joined Angel City in January 2022, will not be available for several weeks due to an adductor injury.
Vanessa Gilles was trained with the Cincinnati Bearcats before having several experiences in Europe. Besides Bordeaux and France, she played at Apollon Limassol (Cyprus).
