A sensational performance from Unai Simón, a goal from Álvaro Morata with three minutes to go and a Cristiano Ronaldo in decline took Spain to the final stage of the League of Nations, after their hard-fought victory (0-1 ) in Braga, where Portugal paid dearly for the lack of aim of its star and the Spanish team, after a disastrous first half, was reactivated with the entry of Gavi and Pedri.

Spain was uncomfortable in the first half. His possession was barren. It is true that he had a good chance with a shot from Pablo Sarabia, but it came after a mistake by Cancelo when the ball came out. Only Unai Simón was saved from the Spanish horror. First he rejected a powerful shot from Rubén Neves from the front in the 23rd minute and nine later he saved Diogo Jota’s goal with a spectacular hand, after a very quick Portuguese counterattack.

In the restart, Simón was again splendid responding to a shot from Cristiano Ronaldo. Luis Enrique made changes and Spain improved. Nico Williams and Morata, with a shot from the front that was rejected by Diogo Costa, rubbed the goal, until the striker of Atlético de Madrid took advantage of a pass from Williams to decide the game.
