During the weekend, the Pieriga floorball team experienced both convincing victories and heavy losses, as well as dramatic battles at the end of the matches in the championship matches of the Latvian Premier League. During the holidays, the championship of the first league of Latvia also started with the participation of three Pieriga clubs.
The floorball players of the “Masters”/Ulbrok floorball school started the new season with a home game against the Talsa NSS/”Krauzers” team, at the beginning of the second third they already scored 4:0 in their favor and won the battle to a convincing victory 8:3. Matīs Kristians Morozov stood out for the winners with two accurate shots and two assists. It is interesting that after this week’s games, Ulbroka’s team is the only one that has not experienced a loss in the league tournament this season.
The second victory in three games has been won by the floorball players of “Ķekavas”, who on Sunday caused a loss to the current champions “Lekring” of Cēsis. In the third period, the people of Kekava had amassed a 6:3 advantage, but did not defend it (6:6), but 39 seconds before the end of regular time, Antons Žuks scored the winning goal – the second this season – 7:6. Klavas Jansons and Renats Degins each scored two goals, while Toms Ľeirans had a goal and two assists.
For Saulkrasti, Ādaži and Carnikava floorball club “SĀC” the championship has started with a win and losses in the last two games. An unsuccessful second half of the third period in Viesos against the “Lielvārde/FatPipe” team led to a 3:8 defeat (Krist Saldatenok 2+0), but on Sunday in Đadaži against Kocēnas “Rubeni” the home team eliminated a three-goal deficit in two minutes in the second period (1:4). , but the opponents quickly regained the lead and caused the home team a 11:13 loss in a score-rich performance. Dēvids Osītis collected six productivity points (3+3), 2+2 each for Alvi Dāles and Ralfs Celmiņas, who also received the team’s best player award.
Three teams from Pierīga started the tournament of the Latvian first league with productive matches, and two of them met in one match. In Saulkrasti, FBK “SĀC” hosted floorball club “Saulkalne” from Salaspils region, lost the first third 0:9 and the whole game – 6:18. Krists Bitenbinders (9+3), Eriks Akulovs (2+7) and Kristians Rudolfs Priede (4+1) collected impressive results for the guests, Ralfs Celmins earned three points (2+1) for the hosts.
“Ķekava Bulldogs” met the floorball players of “Slampe”/”Zevid” sports club at home, before the last period they fought to a draw 4:4, in the last minute of regular time the score was 5:7, but in the end – a loss 5:10. Kristofer Jurison scored two goals for the Käkavians.
