two Liverpool supporters committed suicide

This is sad news that was revealed by the team this Wednesday. The daily reports that two Liverpool supporters have committed suicide following the incidents at the Stade de France during the Champions League final between the Reds and Real Madrid. The two supporters had also lived through the Hillsborough tragedy in 1989 when 96 supporters, including children, were crushed to death after violent crowd movements.

The 52-year-old first supporter died just a week after the final while the other 63-year-old committed suicide last week. “I cannot give too many details about these suicides, as investigations are ongoing. (…) There is no doubt that, if they committed this irreparable act, it was because the last Champions League final reactivated in them the trauma of 1989, which they thought they had overcome ”, explained Peter Scarfe, the president of HSSA (Hillsborough Survivors Support Alliance). Eleven other supporters are in psychological distress.
