The Tiger will take on this role in Munich in the future

Steffen Effenberg is back at Bayern Munich! The 54-year-old is celebrating his comeback with the German record champions after almost 20 years and will represent FCB as the new club ambassador.

While his first attempt at FC Bayern between 1990 and 1992 was rather sub-optimal, the “Tiger” returned to Munich in 1998 and celebrated great success with FCB in just under four years. In addition to the last-minute championship in 2001, the midfielder also won the Champions League and the World Cup with Bayern.

After his playing career, Effenberg briefly tried his hand as a coach (SC Paderborn 07). The 54-year-old has been working as a TV expert for some time now. As Bayern announced on Friday“Effe” is now celebrating its comeback with the German record champions.

“It’s a nice feeling to come back”

Effenberg will work as a club ambassador for Bayern in the future. Marketing Director Andreas Jung commented: “We are very happy to welcome Stefan Effenberg as a new ambassador to our team. He has led our club to historic success as a leader on the pitch, which gives him a special place among our fans and makes him an ideal representative of FC Bayern.”

The ex-Bayern captain is also looking forward to his return: “It’s a nice feeling to return to FC Bayern as an ambassador. FC Bayern is always referred to as a family – and that’s exactly how it feels, even today. Anyone who knows me knows that I don’t do things by halves. As captain, I used to give my all for this club and its fans around the world on the pitch, and now I will also fulfill this new role as ambassador with my passion for FC Bayern.”
