The Most Highly Anticipated Matchups For This Year’s Upcoming EPL Season

The schedule for the upcoming 2022–2023 Premier League season has been released, and as usual, there is a great deal of topics worthy of discussion before the first few games of the season commence.

All the top teams in the premier league will be put through their paces early on during the first half of the season. Additionally, there will be the Qatar 2022 World Cup to contend with during the holiday season. All that being said we are in for some exciting football months.

Let’s take a look at some of the most anticipated matches for this year’s 22/23 EPL season.

Chelsea VS Manchester City

By the second-to-last game week of the 22/23 season, it should be quite clear which clubs will still be in the race for the title, that being said there will always be room for a late surprise. Defending champions Manchester City host Chelsea at the infamous Etihad Stadium in the season’s last Big Six match on May 20. Both teams could still be battling in the Premier League title hunt at the time.

As it stands City is currently second behind Arsenal with just 1 point separating the two while Chelsea is in 6th place. After scoring the game-winning goal in this matchup back in January, Kevin De Bruyne will look to continue to be a sore point for his old team.

Arsenal VS Tottenham

Once again come October 1st, the two North London bitter rivals will face each other on the pitch, and to the contemptment of the North London derby fans, again the clash will come early in the season  similar to the 21/22 season of last year.

The matchup will not make or break the season for either half but that doesn’t change the fact that fans are looking forward to seeing the two revamped teams battle it out on the Emirates field. When the two meet most of the top UK betting sites offer some insane promotions and prop bets that really pumps up the fans.

Come October both Arsenal and Tottenham will fight with the hopes of igniting a run of form in the midst of a gruelling fall schedule.

Liverpool VS Chelsea

This matchup is anticipated mostly due to both teams forming part of the “Big 6” in the EPL, except this year the match is anticipated for other reasons. Jurgen Klopp has recently mocked Cheslea boss Boehly after Boehly suggested an all-star game in the premier league which has sparked some heated debates between fans. Now the game has currently been postponed due to the unfortunate and recent passing of Queen Elizabeth II, so the pair will have to wait a little longer to settle the beef on the pitch.

Manchester United VS Manchester City

At this stage, the Dutchman will have had ample time to shape the squad to his own image and fully integrate any summer acquisitions, making for a thrilling first Manchester derby at Old Trafford for Erik ten Hag.

Even while derbies haven’t always reflected the 10-year shift of power between Manchester United and Manchester City, Pep Guardiola’s team will look back on last season’s 6-1 aggregate triumph over United with fondness.

Manchester United more specifically Ten Hag has much to sort out before Man City make their way to the Theatre of Dreams come October 1st round the same weekend the North London derby takes place.

However, by January, we should have a better idea of Man United’s goals for the upcoming season under Ten Hag. The rivalry also falls during a time when there is no European competition due to the completion of the World Cup.

Manchester City VS Liverpool

On April 1, fans of the Premier League will be treated to what is perhaps one of many highlights of the current season. This game might have far-reaching consequences once again. Contenders for Favoured Titles Even though the April 1 matchup between Manchester City and Liverpool is shaping up to be yet another thrilling battle, neither Pep Guardiola nor Jurgen Klopp will engage in any April Fool’s Day shenanigans in the Land of Champions.

If City and Liverpool do end up in another 2 man fight for the Premier League trophy, then the duel at Etihad Stadium may provide the strongest indication thus far as to which direction the title may be headed many weeks later.
