The eleventh edition of the WindFestival 2022 is ready to go

The press conference for the presentation of the eleventh edition of the WindFestival, the largest Expo in Italy dedicated to sea and wind action sports, was held today at the Council Chamber in Diano Marina. Among the speakers, in addition to the organizers of the event Andrea Ippolito and Valter Scotto of TF7 Open Sport ASD, were present the Mayor of Diano Marina Cristiano Za Garibaldi, the Councilor for Sport Luca Spandre, the Councilor for Social Services and Culture Sabrina Mexico , the Managing Director for the Events Gianluca Gramondo, the Managing Director for Commerce Veronica Brunazzi and the President of the Municipal Council Francesco Bregolin.

From 29 September to 2 October the Municipality of Diano Marina will once again be the stage of this unmissable end-of-season event which will be divided into five large thematic areas to offer enthusiasts and the public a wide choice among many sea sports and of land aimed not only at athletes but also at families and children.

The Water / Wind area brings together sea and wind sports such as Windsurfing, the beating heart of the Windfestival, but also everything that can sail, fly or slide on the water with the possibility for beginners to approach sailing activities with classes free.

The Outdoor Area is instead dedicated to fans of land sports: for lovers of Trekking and Trailrunning there are excursions in the hinterland, running enthusiasts can try their hand at the WindRun, an amateur foot race for adults and the WindRun Kids for mini-athletes from 2 to 13 years. Those who prefer two wheels will be spoiled for choice between Mountain Bike and E-Mountain Bike with which to face enduro and downhill tours on the spectacular routes of the Dianese Gulf. Thanks to the Rad School of Genoa there will be an exhibition of jumps on ramps with mountain bikes and with TK Mtb a contest of jumps on ramps at the Piazza del Comune on Saturday and Sunday. Lifts on the paths of the gulf by vans and trolleys will also be offered to the public, as well as four free e-bike excursions.

This year at the WindFestival there will be even more space for adaptive disciplines and within the Paralympic area the athletes, including prosthetic ones, will be able to experiment with different sports such as windsurfing, water polo, archery, basketball and martial arts. in collaboration with the CIP (Italian Paralympic Committee) Liguria. Granda Waterpolo Ability will bring its own floating court for water polo matches. Also in the Adaptive area, the conclusion of the Windsurf Adaptive Challenge, the first Italian Windsurfing championship in stages open to all types of disabilities, is scheduled. Organized and wanted by the patron of the WindFestival Valter Scotto and, among others, also by the blind windsurfer Enrico Sulli “The Fast Blind Rider”, the championship, sponsored by FIV and CONI, saw blind and amputee athletes compete in San Vincenzo ( Livorno) and on Lake Vico (Viterbo). In addition, as regards activities with the public with disabilities, there will be three shows a day of Buggy therapy with Maurizio Perin at the town square, Jeep therapy with Adam on the beach, activities with dogs and Mototherapy with jet skis. with Maremoto Genova. Also present were the Superheroes and the Clown group from Savona and the Pompieropoli project with continuous activities with the kids to understand the dynamics of the firefighters’ work. Also cycling activities with “A spasso Bike” and kayaking with Top Kayak.

Classic Sport Area: the entire center of Diano Marina will come alive with fitness, skate, longboard and martial arts which are just some of the sporting activities offered.

The event also includes three evenings of musical entertainment starting from Thursday evening, with DJ sets and, from 8.00 pm on Saturday, the “TF7 Sports Awards” to reward athletes who spread the values ​​of sport around the world and the highly anticipated “Bikini Contest “.

The WindFestival is sponsored by the Liguria Region, by the Municipality of Diano Marina Department of Sport and Municipal Management Spa, CONI, FIV (Italian Sailing Federation) and benefits from the support of Federalberghi and CSEN (National Educational Sports Center).
