The ball boy who stole one of Roger Federer’s balls comes out of the shadows

Shortly after Roger Federer announced he was retiring, a former ball boy or ball boy, now an adult, admitted that he was the one who stopped the Swiss maestro from hitting a ball.

It was during a Roger Federer match when the Swiss was much younger. “When I was 12 I stole one of Roger Federer’s balls,” the former ball boy wrote on Twitter.

His name is Marco Pogo. Pogo also shared a video in which we can see or re-watch the moment in question.

20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer has announced his retirement from professional tennis at the age of 41.

He celebrated his 41st birthday last August, and had not played since Wimbledon 2021 due to third knee surgery. In a statement, Federer revealed that he plans to retire after the 2022 Laver Cup which took place this weekend in London.
