Endless emotions for the second edition of SportAbility day hosted by the Sciorba multi-sports facility and organized by the Stelle nella Sport Association with the support of the Liguria Region and the Municipality of Genoa.
Over 750 participants in the thirty sports areas set up both inside the stadium and in the swimming pool. Among them, athletes already registered for the sports clubs of the Italian Paralympic Committee and Special Olympics but also and above all girls and boys with disabilities who, accompanied by their families or together with the volunteers of their non-profit associations, have discovered and tried, for the first time, several disciplines.
To inaugurate this extraordinary barrier-free sports village, before starting the activities, a special parade with over 50 associations present at the event and two special champions Francesco Bocciardo, three times gold medal in swimming at the Paralympics in London and Tokyo, together with Vittorio Podestà, multiple medal winner in Hand Bike at the Games in Beijing, London and Rio de Janeiro. With them also numerous Paralympic athletes: Andrea Azzarito (Genoese Swimmers), Tommaso Libertini (Genova Badminton Club), Vittoria Oliva (Table Tennis Don Bosco Varazze), the Italian dance champions Simone Capelli (paired with Federica Benvenuto) and Laura Del Sere (paired with Andrea Barberis). Good luck to all the participants came from the councilor Ilaria Cavo (Social Policies of the Liguria Region), Simona Ferro (Sport Region of Liguria), Alessandra Bianchi (Sport Municipality of Genoa) together with Maurizio Uremassi, President of the Media Val Bisagno Municipality.
Many goals in the two tournaments sponsored by the Figc Dcps and Figc Sgs. In the morning applause for BIC Genova (2 teams), Insuperabili Genova (2 teams), Divertime, Insuperabili Torino and Ticinia Novara, in the afternoon for Propontedecimo, Athletic Club Albaro, Sestrese, Baiardo, Genova Calcio, Città Giardino, Ligorna, Campomorone Sant ‘ Olcese. Truly unique emotions for the women’s derby between Sampdoria and Genoa (4 pm). In the third football field set up by MySport, the return of Insuperabili and We Play Football with the news of the Special Olympics Meeting dedicated to football and some individual skill paths curated by Eunike together with the national technical coordinator Massimo Micci. Eunike, Free Sport, Viceversa and Canottieri Velocior Spezia participated.
Closing of the day in the pool with the swimming relay, coordinated by My Sport. The snack for everyone was offered by the event partners Panarello and Tossini. To applaud and encourage the boys, engaged on the field, were also present Christian Puggioni, Simone Spinelli (creator of We Play Football) and Fabio Incorvaia (promoter of Jetski Therapy).
