In the FC Schalke 04 test against Oberliga Gütersloh, the newly promoted Bundesliga club had everything under control. The East Westphalians were hardly dangerous at all, Schalke’s ferryman had a quiet evening in goal.

S04 didn’t have any offensive chances every minute, but they had some good opportunities. After two first attempts by Mollet (cleared just before the line, 12′) and Larsson (Gütersloh’s keeper Peters made a strong save, 13′), the regular captain of the Royal Blues was spot on. Latza pushed a deflected cross from Matriciani over the line from close range to take the lead (25′). Shortly thereafter, Mollet could have even increased it with a free kick from 22 meters out, but the post got in the way (32′).

Gütersloh’s strength dwindled noticeably in the second half. Schalke had everything under control, but left the game open, at least as far as the result was concerned – until goalscorer Terodde came on as a substitute (74th).

Terodde comes, meets and decides the game

The attacker was on the field for less than two minutes and the ball was already in the goal. Terodde headed an Ouwejan cross into the near post (76′). Just eight minutes later, the striker took another cross, this time from Mollet: Terodde chested the ball down in the box and pocketed it to make it 3-0.

Schalke line-up: Ferryman – Matriciani (85th Kankam Kyerewaa), Cissé (80th Boboy), Greiml, Ouwejan – Flick (85th Bokake Bolufe), Latza – Larsson (74th Sané), Mollet (85th Kozuki), Zalazar ( 74. Bülter) – Polter (74. Terodde)
