Shock in tennis: Fiona Ferro denounced her former coach for rape and sexual assault

In the last, a new case came to light that shocks the world of tennis. the french Fiona Ferrowho is currently ranked 259th in the WTA ranking, denounced her former coach, Pierre Bouteyreby rape and sexual assault.

The events denounced in the file allegedly occurred in a tennis club between 2012 and 2015, when The athlete was between 15 and 18 years old.

Ferro’s complaint was made at a police station in Fréjus (southern France) in February of this year and on August 19, Bouteyre, 50, was charged. He is accused of “rape committed on a minor by a person with authority over the victim.”

From the imputation the coach and former tennis player was placed under judicial controlwith a ban on coming into contact with Ferro and training minors, he explained to the agency AFP the prosecutor of Draguignan south, Patrice Camberou. In addition, he must undergo mandatory psychological treatment.

The aberrant defense of the coach

After being denounced, Bouteyre “acknowledged the relationship, but denied any coercion, it was a love story according to him”. This was explained by Virginie Pin, the coach’s lawyer.

The truth is that, on the dates on which the facts that are the subject of the investigation allegedly occurred, the tennis player was a minor.

The authorities are trying to determine if, in addition, the coach abused other tennis players in his workplace.

Bouteyre, who also had Alizé Cornet (currently 40th in the world) as a pupil, “was Fiona Ferro’s personal trainer,” explained Isabelle Colombani, the player’s lawyer. “She accompanied Her to the tournaments that are normally held abroad,” she added.

Colombani has already defended two victims of another tennis coach, Régis de Camaret, sentenced in 2014 to 10 years in prison for rape of minors.

Ferro, who is currently 25 years old and a professional since 2012, became 39th in the WTA in March 2021. She was eliminated from the US Open last week during main draw qualifying.

Far from there being any kind of formality, the father of the young tennis player began to pat her on the tail and then kissed her on the mouth with a “little bit”. Immediately afterwards, Bejlek approached his trainer, who also touched his tail, although he did not kiss her.

“It was a spontaneous reaction from the whole team. Certainly It may seem inconvenient and uncomfortable for some, but we have already discussed it with the team. It will not happen again”, explained the tennis player.
