According to Japanese culture, the Shochu Geiko as the rigorous training modality that is carried out in the hottest time of the year with the aim of reaching a deeper level of consciousness. In contrast, the Kan Geiko It is the modality that performs the same type of training in the coldest time of winter.

Javier Linde’s judo academy celebrated last Tuesday the thirteenth edition of its own Shochu Geiko. The La Granadilla pavilion was the chosen place where more than 40 participants gathered to practice this modality.

“This type of training comes from Japanese culture. There, these trainings are carried out in the street, in full sun and with more than 30 degrees. We do it in the shadows, but we try to follow the Japanese philosophy to the letter”, explains Javier Linde.

The judoka, who is a National Seventh Dan Master-Trainer, explains that, during training, they performed randori standing, randori of ground and a bit of kata. “The randori they are something similar to a free practice in which certain guidelines are not followed, unlike kata, which is more choreographed, ”says Linde.

The judo academy starts on September 5. In their work team they have an entire Olympic judoka Conchi Bellorín. “He is currently in Madrid, because he is part of the Higher Sports Council, but whenever he finds a gap he comes to train here because he has his license with us,” says the head of the academy.
