Serie A: Juventus Turin still more in the red

“The board of directors has approved a consolidated balance sheet for the financial year ended June 30, 2022 which highlights a loss of 254.3 million euros”, after a loss of 210 million euros the previous season, has announced the club.

These losses are the biggest ever for Juve, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

This is the fifth year in a row that the Bianconeri’s accounts have been in the red: the losses have continued to increase since the 2017/18 season (- 19.2 M EUR), due in particular to the financial weight of the three seasons Cristiano Ronaldo (2018-2021) then the Covid-19 pandemic which led to a drop in ticketing and sponsorship revenues.

Juve, which is coming out of its first year without a title since 2011, specifies that the 2021/22 season has “still been significantly penalized” by the “direct and indirect” consequences of the pandemic, in particular due to restrictions on the public in the stages.

The most successful club in Italy, however, expects an “improvement” in its accounts for the current season.

Juve is one of three clubs, along with Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, ​​in favor of the creation of a Super League, a closed championship which would be reserved for the biggest clubs to compete in the Champions League. This project, currently at a standstill since the withdrawal of English clubs, is presented by its instigators as a way to generate greater income for the biggest teams.
