Selección Colombia: Pinto’s harsh criticism of Lorenzo for calling up James Rodríguez | Colombia selection

James Rodríguez back the Colombia National Team. There are more themes, more doubts, more controversies, but that is, without a doubt, the great success at the box office.

And to add to that discussion, after knowing the first call of the Colombian National Team under the command of Néstor Lorenzo, Jorge Luis Pinto, famous for saying things without embellishments, spoke on 6Am Hoy por Hoy de Caracol Radio.

“You have to ask the coach what he is looking for and what he wants, because that is the first thing to know. If he wants to test players, if he wants to stick with the experienced ones and all that. But he has one thing ahead of him, which is the other World Cup and he has to build the team from now on. I think that he cannot lose time, ”he began by saying.

“The James thing is not the right time. We all want, if he prepares well, for him to come to the National Team, but at this moment it is not respectful to the other players to call James, that is what I consider. I do not have a clear vision of what he (Lorenzo) wants and there I can interpret things, “he added.

His example is very practical: “What happens is that it’s like when you get used to a car and say ‘what’s wrong, I’m going to change it’, and when you drive the new one you say ‘this one is better’. You have to think about that, that James is suddenly not there, he doesn’t dedicate himself, he doesn’t feel the shirt… You had to leave him there for a little while in the new team so that he could prepare himself, get to know his teammates and then make merits to call him. Many other players I know kill themselves to come to the National Team. All those boys who are waiting see the doors closed”.

But it is not the only controversy for Pinto. The insistence on looking at the local league exasperates him: “For example, Daniel Ruiz is a player that must be taken. I don’t know if he (Lorenzo) is going to enter with the same mentality as some coaches that everyone has to be from outside. I get tired of repeating it and it makes me sad to say it again, I brought Walter Moreno over Amaranto Perea, over Mario Yepes and Walter played for Cúcuta and was the best player of the National Team in those games. believe in the talent that we have at home, not everything that is on the outside shines and is attractive”, he said.

That and going back again and again with the veterans raises doubts in him: “What else do we see from Cuadrado? We know him, we know what he does… Why do we bring him to a game? Instead, you do need to have other players in that position and give them games to get to know them to see how they respond. I don’t share much with the veterans, we already know them, we already know what they do. So let’s introduce new ones to see what happens with them and then make a mixture of new and veterans and get the ideal Selection ”, he analyzed.

Pinto needs ‘Chicho’ Arango more than ‘Cucho’ Hernández from the MLS, from where a summoned player, Jhon Jader Durán, arrived. Apparently, for him and for many, the call left more disappointment than illusion.
