Schröder’s level in the Eurobasket generates interest in the league

After his last seasons have made him receive very little interest from the NBA franchises, this Eurobasket could be the salvation for Dennis Schröder. According to the journalist Marc Stein, there are several teams to which his performance in the continental competition has drawn attention, to the point that a lot of movement is being generated that will surely translate into offers once the tournament is over.

Stein himself had already reported weeks ago about the interest that the Lakers and Mavericks had shown in the German, but it seems that both franchises are going to have a lot of competition. With 20.2 points and 7.2 assists per game, Schröder is leading a Germany that is being one of the sensations of the tournament, and that, after eliminating Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Greece, aspires to continue using its local status to win the title. The point guard’s speed and agility in penetration is being a fundamental resource for Gordie Herbert’s men, who are taking advantage of Dennis’ generating capacity to also score many points from the triple.

Schröder once had the opportunity to sign an $84 million four-year deal with the Lakers, but turned that option down in search of a more lucrative deal. This not only did not arrive, but, after his poor 2021 playoffs, his reputation in the league declined significantly and he had to settle for playing for less than 6 million in Boston, from where he was transferred after a few months since he did not He fit into the system. All this suggested that it would be difficult for him to find a team that would bet on him in an important role this summer, but waiting until this Eurobasket was held may have been an intelligent decision on his part.
