Russia: VTB League announces revenue growth

The VTB United Basketball League’s budget for the 2021-22 season turned out to be in excess, reports TASS.

Income amounted to 1.134 billion rubles, while expenses were 806.6 million rubles. A year earlier, the income of the VTB United League was 693.6 million rubles, expenses – 614.5 million rubles.

“The bulk of the league’s income last season came from sponsorship deals with VTB Bank, Lukoil, Sibur, Academservice, Sogaz, Rusvietpetro and Olimp with 729 million rubles,” writes TASS. The VTB United League earned only… 9 million rubles from ticket sales.

CSKA Moscow remains the most profitable club in the VTB United Basketball League. In the 2021-22 season, he generated 2.87 billion rubles, while the expenses of the Army club amounted to 2.8 billion rubles.

CSKA spent 1.498 billion rubles* on player salaries and 155 million rubles on coaching and technical staff.

The second richest club was Zenit, whose income amounted to 2.4 billion rubles, with expenses of 2.43 billion. The Saint Petersburg club spent 772 million rubles on player salaries and 202 million rubles on coaches and technical staff.

Avtodor Saratov turned out to be the least profitable club in the VTB United League with 229.6 million rubles.
