Totally unleashed this Thursday at St Andrews, Romain Langasque signs an extraordinary card of 61 (-11) on the mythical Old Course. The Frenchman is currently leading the tournament ahead of the Spaniard Nacho Elvira and the Canadian Aaron Cockerill, respectively 64 (-8) and 65 (-7) at Kingsbarns…

The weeks follow each other and are not alike for Romain Langasque. Totally out of the way Cazoo Open de France with a very heavy 79 (+8) inaugural before missing the cut set in the par despite a second card of 71, the Azurean offered a completely different course this Thursday on theOld Course de St Andrews.

Starting from hole n°10 and after a bogey on the 11th, Langasque, winner of the 2015 British Open amateur, then “dropped” on the Scottish course with an eagle on the 12th and two birdies on the 14th and 18th. It was especially on the return that the Frenchman showed impressive mastery with a new eagle and six other birdies slammed between 2 and 9.

His remarkable 61 (-11) allows him to equal here the record for places held by Ross Fisher since the 4th round of this same Dunhill Links Championship en 2017. The Englishman had finished in second place at -21, three points behind his compatriot, Tyrrell Hatton.
